Duck Park

Last night we went on a family outing to a park nearby where there are lots of ducks and no sign that says it's not okay to feed them... Might not be really in the ducks' best interest to eat so much stale bread, but every time we're there it seems someone is feeding them, and they certainly don't look like they've seen any lack!

We brought along a bag of ancient, freezer-burned artisan bread that I tried to rescue from the freezer for our own dinner, but that turned out to be too stale to swallow. We figured the ducks wouldn't be as picky. They weren't.

Nora really didn't quite have the concept down- she liked to chase the ducks and throw the bread AT them, not near them... and if the ducks didn't get it fast enough, she'd hurry ahead and pick up the bread to try again!

Carolyn had more mature duck-feeding form, and she had a lovely time, though the light was really not very good for pictures. Well, at least for an amateur pushing the "dummy button."

Nora's really growing up- she likes to do everything BY MYSELF. She is so very proud that she can go down small slides by herself.

She really makes the BEST faces!

Carolyn, too, has grown so much this summer. She is not nearly as timid as she used to be- she is starting to trust her environment more and her own abilities. I think this is a good thing- she's certainly no daredevil, but she's starting to want to try new things, like playing on the monkey bars!

And seriously, what is sweeter than a daddy and his little girls?!
