Last night we went to the beach on Lake Michigan for a picnic (well, we ordered a pizza) and some fun family time. Carolyn surprised me with how much fun she had!!
She was instantly fascinated with the sand- we couldn't get her to eat much food even though it was pizza. She tried to eat couple mouthfuls of sand, but soon figured out that didn't taste so good- of course, that didn't stop her from putting anything she found IN the sand in her mouth- thankfully, this is a pretty clean beach. :)

Given her prior reaction to the water in Lake Michigan (screaming loud enough for the people on the other side of the lake in Wisconsin to hear), I didn't expect her to enjoy the water- but she really did! She seemed to love the feeling of the wet sand on her feet and the water lapping up against her legs..
A whole family of feet. :)

She was so excited by the water and so clearly wanted to get closer to it that we just took her clothes off (next time we'll bring a bathing suit and a swim diaper!) and she crawled right into the water! She's not generally such a risk taker but I guess it must have felt good!
I had to follow her closely to see that she didn't venture out too far!

After awhile of being in the water, she seemed to be more interested in playing in the dry sand. She got so dirty!!!
After a good rinse in the lake, she cuddled right up with Daddy in a nice warm towel...
